Too much!

I'm too connected and I've too much (of the same thing) going on simulatenously, making me feel like I can't update enough. Example:

In the last week I helped my very good friends move all of their belongings into a UHaul, so I could then visit them a week later in their new Seattle home. I took pictures of the move (including pug butt) and posted them on my Facebook. Done. Then, I posted one on my Post-MFA blog, in memoriam to losing all those posessions that I've used/sat on/looked at in my friends' homes for the past two years.

I have a full time job for these two months over the summer, in the English Dept. I'm now on the other side of the table from where I've been for the last two years as an MFA student & TA in the department. I used to clandestinly photocopy poems in the midst of copies for my students (sometimes also including poems legitematily, as part of a lesson plan), for my own enjoyment. I would borrow tablets of writing paper from the supply closet, then return 5 more pads for every 1 I took from T, who indiscrimantely collected them in his office. I tried never to use the official envelopes for my stamped mail, because they had a scary barcode on them. Now, I use the communal LaseJet for all of my departmental needs-- because everything must be hard-copy archived in the office for our records. I'm the admin. assoc., so I'm discovering the inner-workings of a university department, who must report to the Dean of the college, who in turn reports to the Provost and a host of other higher-ups. I was able to sign my name in an official capacity here today-- usually I defer to the established departmental figures for everything that needs signed (and everything needs signed). I keep track of classroom records, faculty and admin. pay, conference and research travel and every fact, file and sheet you could think of. It's a bit overwhelming-- because I leave in about three weeks. I digress.

So I forget what makes this blog a great space for me: all of those inane pictures from road trips and odd Missoula experiences. I also remain distanced a bit from writing; missing poetry. I'll get back to it. Then, I move to Chicago. In all hopes, I'll have inane moving roadtrip experiences to recount here, as T, Natalie (my cat) and I travel from Missoula to Chicago in 5 or less days. Oh my!

Other life happenings:

I volunteered for Obama's campaign the day before the primary. On primary day I hopped from one-two-three polling places before finaly figuring out the deal. The last time I voted in Missoula was for the state senate race in 2006, after working for Jon Tester's campaign as a volunteer. I was now considered an "inactive" voter, having never voted in a federal election here before. I'd also changed addresses since my last voting. So, I went to my new polling place in my neighborhood. Of course, they didn't have my name on record, but gave me the chance of address form. I thought I'd submit that at the courthouse, which is the central location for all civic happenings (as the name can tell you). But no, on election day the courthouse became just another precinct. So I dropped off my change form there, but then hopped on over to the precinct location in my old neighborhood and finally voted! And Obama won Montana. And the nomination.
