Road trip: Seattle

Needing some run-away-from-Missoula time, my friend and I road-tripped to visit our co-dependant friends newly relocated in Seattle. It was rainy and miserable in Missoula when we left, it was rainy and miserable in Idaho, and it rained a lot in Seattle. But gloom makes for some fantastic photography lighting.

I can only say how I derive many pleasures from the roadside attractions that are Montana, I-90. For two years I've known this as 10,000 Silver Dollars roadside emporium of anything. Now, due to inflation, they've accomodated with an inflated name:

During our trip we made it to the beach to see Puget Sound (off in the distance?) Everything is so dang green and verdant. I will miss that in the concrete jungle. Luckily Chicago has many parks and 'burbs.

And, the tiny:

Or, the weird: I must spend a lot of time navel-gazing on trips like these, always using my camera as the receipient for experiences. Seattle does lend itself to this kind of experience because it's overcast and a cup of coffee is always around the next corner. What I didn't take pictures of included a billion dogs after passing this scene (below), at the dog park. Lots of sprawl up hills and condos sprouting up around the marinas. A viking statue at the marina. An old and grizzled pug to complement our friends' pug. Indian food at Cedars. Discussion of books and the people who write them. Poets and the poems they write. Fried fish @ Ivar's.

I love the sign's name change. Hilarious.

And also, kind of sad.
